Mission
The Very Informed Person (VIP) Program
is a peer mentoring program dedicated to ease the transition to
college, increase student retention, and increase academic achievement
through direct interaction among first year students and the peer
mentors.
VIP Responsibilities
- Attend GSO classes
- Attend planning meetings with instructor
- Attend meetings with Coordinator
- Assist the instructor in arranging for visitors, speakers,
tours, etc.
- Participate and help facilitate in-class discussions
- Assist students in group activities
- Interact with students outside of class
- Serve as a liaison for student feedback for the instructor
- Organize out of class experiences and encourage student participation
- Assist students with course material
- Assist students with the course registration process
- Plan social activities for the class
Criteria for Selection
- Be dependable and friendly
- Have access to an EKU student e-mail account
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
- Have completed a minimum of 2 semesters at Eastern Kentucky
University
