Mission

The Very Informed Person (VIP) Program is a peer mentoring program dedicated to ease the transition to college, increase student retention, and increase academic achievement through direct interaction among first year students and the peer mentors.

VIP Responsibilities

  • Attend GSO classes
  • Attend planning meetings with instructor
  • Attend meetings with Coordinator
  • Assist the instructor in arranging for visitors, speakers, tours, etc.
  • Participate and help facilitate in-class discussions
  • Assist students in group activities
  • Interact with students outside of class
  • Serve as a liaison for student feedback for the instructor
  • Organize out of class experiences and encourage student participation
  • Assist students with course material
  • Assist students with the course registration process
  • Plan social activities for the class

Criteria for Selection

  • Be dependable and friendly
  • Have access to an EKU student e-mail account
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Have completed a minimum of 2 semesters at Eastern Kentucky University
