  1. Positive Attitude: Encourage the mentee to approach life and goals with enthusiasm and to be accepting of self and others.
  2. Inter-relations: The interactions between the mentor and the mentee should be situations of sharing, caring and empathizing with each other.
  3. Creative Problem Solving: Encourage the mentee to use a creative problem-solving process that will help them.
  4. Strengths and Uniqueness: Encourage the mentee to recognize individual strengths and uniqueness and to build upon them.
  5. Confidence: Assist the mentee in developing self-confidence.
  6. Risk-taking: Encourage the mentee to be a risk-taker and to be an active participant, not a spectator.
  7. Flexibility: Share with the mentee the importance of being flexible and adaptable in attitudes and actions, looking for alternatives and seeing situations/persons from different perspectives.
