Faculty, Staff &
Administrative Mentoring
Faculty, staff and administrators interested in becoming
a mentor will be selected on a volunteer basis and will need to
go through training. There is an application and matching process.
All faculty, staff and administrators interested in participating
in this program will be assigned to a mentee. It is our goal to
supply each mentor with a roster of other mentors to interact and
network with. Mentors will be able to and are encouraged to discuss
any questions and/or concerns within the mentoring pool and to obtain
different answers or solutions from different mentors, which we
hope will be helpful. We hope that this network will become a valuable
source of information, problem solving, and referral information.
Faculty mentors will also be asked to assist in identifying students
from their classrooms who could benefit from the Mentoring Program.
Availability of mentors can be during office hours
or by appointment at your mutual convenience. However, many activities
on campus or in the community that you may want to attend with your
mentee occur in the evenings or on weekends. It's important to be
aware of your time commitment and/or limitations to this relationship.
In selecting mentors, the following characteristics
are considered: willingness to become a mentor, time to become a
mentor, persistence in communicating with your mentee, and most
importantly, a desire to make a difference in the life of a student.
