PLUS Handbook
PLUS Program Code of Conduct

  • All information discussed with your mentor will be held in strict confidence.
  • PLUS mentors should maintain the highest professional standards.
  • PLUS mentors will inform mentee when they feel they are not competent to provide counsel in a specific area. Remember referral tactics noted in the handbook.
  • PLUS partners will be straightforward and candid with clients.
  • Eastern Kentucky University requires PLUS Partners to observe the highest standards of professional conduct and ethical behavior in all their activities.
  • By maintaining these standards, PLUS Partners enhance their reputation as effective mentors and increase confidence in the skills and conduct of higher education institutions. As the conduct of an individual Mentor can reflect upon the wider profession of The PLUS Program and the Institute's integrity as a whole, the Code sets out what are deemed to be appropriate standards of professional conduct.
  • Mentors are required to uphold the University's Charter and comply with the By-laws.
  • Mentors are required to exercise integrity, honesty and diligence in carrying out their duties and responsibilities.
  • Mentors shall at all times be aware of their responsibilities as professional people toward the wider community.
  • Mentors shall at all times safeguard the interests of the University, other mentors or mentees, provided that PLUS Partners shall not knowingly be a party to any illegal or unethical activity.
  • Mentors shall not enter into any agreement or undertake any activity which may be in conflict with the legitimate interest of the University or mentee or which would prejudice the performance of their professional duties.
  • Mentors shall not use any confidential information obtained in the performance of their duties for personal gain nor in a manner which would be detrimental to the University, client or any other party.
  • Mentors shall refrain from conduct or action which detracts from the reputation of the Institute.
