  • Be aware of who your advisor is.
    • Know the name, office location, telephone number, and advising procedures of your academic advisor. This information can be found on your CARES Report.
  • Communicate with your advisor regularly.
  • Schedule and keep appointments with your academic advisor
    • Be prompt and prepared
    • Call in advance to reschedule if an appointment cannot be met.
    • Inform advisor of pertinent decisions and needs.
    • Actively participate in the advising process in a cooperative manner.
    • Prepare for advising session and bring appropriate resources or materials.
  • Obtain and know appropriate information prior to an advising appointment
    • Review the university policies, procedures and degree requirements.
    • Be acquainted with the EKU Undergraduate Catalog, CARES Report and course schedule book.
  • Accept ultimate responsibility for your educational progress and career decisions.
  • Follow through on actions identified during each advising session.
