Taking Summer Classes at Another School?

Find courses offered by your summer school that are equivalent to EKU Courses.
  1. Access EKU homepage (www.eku.edu). Click on EKU Direct Icon on left side of page. Click orange "Log In Now" button. (First-time EKU Direct users should click "1. LOGIN" link and read instructions before proceeding.)
  2. Enter ID (SS#) and PIN (six-digit number that you made up).
  3. Once into your account click on "Student Services and Financial Aid," then "Student Records," then "EKU Cares."
  4. Select "Submit an Audit"
  5. Click "SSCT?" button, then "Click Here To Continue."
  6. Select your summer school from the drop down menu and click to continue.
  7. Choose "Run Audit" and then "View Submitted Audits."
  8. If the system has had time to run your audit, you will see a link under the "View Link" column, which lists your current major. Click that link to view your report. This screen allows you to view your report with unmet areas showing in yellow and unmet course requirements showing in red. Click the red arrow at the left of an area to "fast-forward" to that part of your CARES. Clicking the red arrow, again, returns you to the "table of contents."
  9. Any unmet requirements (those that are colored red) that have equivalents at your summer school will show up as in this example: MAT 107 = {MTH130}. Here, the summer school's equivalent of EKU's MAT 107 (College Algebra) is MTH 130. That's the course you would want to take to meet a MAT 107 requirement at EKU.

NOTE: The list of course equivalents for your chosen summer school may be incomplete. If you think the school offers an equivalent that is not listed, bring a course description to the Transfer Center (SSB 129) for evaluation.

  10. There is a link to "View a Printer Friendly Report" Use this to reduce paper consumption. Select the print button on your computer.

NOTE: BEFORE TAKING SUMMER CLASSES AT ANOTHER INSTITUTION YOU MUST DO THE FOLLOWING:

  1. Take your "Summer School Course Transfer" CARES Report to the Office of the Dean of your first major (Advising Center for Undeclared students).
  2. Obtain a dated signature from that office approving enrollment in summer courses.
  3. Obtain a letter of good standing from the EKU Registrar's Office (Student Services Building, #239).
  4. Apply as a transient/visiting student at your transfer school.
  5. Request that an official transcript be sent to EKU's Admissions Office after completion of summer courses.
  6. Retain a signed copy of the Summer School Course Transfer CARES Report.
